Our Nation's Capital

{At the WWII Memorial}

Last week I got to visit one of my favorite cities with my favorite person.

WASHINGTON D.C., OUR NATIONS CAPITAL.

I could permanently live there.

Having been a history major, D.C. is full is everything that captivates me. I loved every minute of our trip! I am already looking forward to going back!

Here are some highlights:

The Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

One of my most favorite places ever, ever!

I could spend days in this museum.

At the WWII Memorial next to the Utah pillar.

UTAH!!

The Washington Monument

The Lincoln Memorial

Where Forrest Gump called out: "Jenny!!"

President Lincoln

The White House

The Capitol Building

On our last night in what was formerly referred to as The District, Greg and I took a pedicab tour around the monuments and through the city.

It was a beautiful night. Not an ounce of humidity in the air
{uncommon for D.C.}
and temperatures during the day stayed at an average of 68 degrees.

It couldn't be any better.

Our Pedicab driver's name was Illyce Orange.
He showed us all the highlights and hot spots.
Taking a pedicab tour around D.C. is quite literally
one of the most fun things I have ever done.

Definitely in my top 5.

Best. Time. Ever.

 {So we wouldn't forget his name}

Before we left for the airport, Greg and I had lunch at Gordon Biersch, on F Street in between The National Archives and The National Portrait Museum.

I had the lobster and shrimp tacos {delicious!} and we split the chocolate cake for dessert.

Highlights from the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History:

The Hope Diamond, an Egyptian coffin, a REAL mummy, and the Titanboa snake.

Highlights from the Smithsonian Museum of American History:

Original American records, Dorothy's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, Jackie Kennedy's pearl necklace, the top hat Abraham Lincoln was wearing when he was assassinated, Patsy Cline's performing costume, and Charlie McCarthy.

Highlights from the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery:

Martin Luther King's I have a Dream Speech,  Suffragette Parade in Brooklyn, Franklin Roosevelt and the medium of radio, The Black Panther Party, and a 1987 gay right's march in D.C.

While I was having the time of my life in our Nation's Capital, Thomas and Isabelle were at home being spoiled rotten cared for by their Aunts Sarah and Stephanie. Afternoons at the swimming pool... Hollywood Connection... Panda Express... park fun... the zoo... Hires Big H... movies... My children are super lucky to have such loving doting aunts!

Thank you Sarah and Stephanie for taking such excellent care of Thomas and Izzie while I was on my trip!

You two are the best and we love you!!

I love Washington D.C. and everything about it. I could spend a month there. There is so much to do and see! It was magical to be in my favorite city with Greg. We both love history, and we always have the best time together.

Could this summer be off to a better start?

Nope.
